TIME TRIAL RESULTS & APPAREL REMINDER
Our team moved back into campus yesterday, and we ran our traditional season-opening time trial on the Wobegon this morning before we head off to Itasca State Park tomorrow for an off-campus team training camp, which will be a first for SJU cross country. Time trial results are below, as well as a reminder to get your apparel orders in as our apparel stores close tomorrow, August 18th at midnight.
TIME TRIAL RESULTS
It was a beautiful 65 degree, overcast morning here in Collegeville for our time trial on the Wobegon Trail. About one-third of our team did not run, including three returners from last fall’s top 7 — sophomore Vincent Kaluza, who ran 15:03 for 5K as a freshman last spring on the track (SJU’s fastest 5K by a freshmen since 1989) and has a nasty cold right now, junior Aiden Chalmers, who was our #3 man at the region meet last fall and is returning from an Achilles injury, and sophomore Max McCoy, who was our 7th man at the region meet last fall and is a trip leader for Collegebound — CSB+SJU’s annual trip to the Boundary Waters for incoming freshmen. Otherwise, a few others have yet to get back to campus, such as our Lars Molenkamp from the Netherlands who is traveling back to campus as I type this, as well as a few who are returning from injury/currently injured.
At the beginning of the summer, we give everyone a time standard to hit that is approximately 1 minute slower than their previous best, or equivalent thereof, to therefore display that they have done the training necessary in June, July and August to be successful in October and November. Some guys choose to all-out race this time trial, others just do what they need to do to hit their time standard and move on. Regardless, here are the results:
